Two former University of Cincinnati student-athletes, Damon Flint and Dr. Howard Bellamah, will represent the Bearcats at this year's Cincinnati Public School Hall of Fame induction. Flint and Bellamah are two of a class of 14 who will be enshrined on April 12.
Flint was a highly coveted recruit out of Woodward High School in 1993. Known for his efforts at the point guard and shooting guard positions, Flint also used his size and athleticism at the small forward position. During his illustrious career at the UC, Flint reached the 1,000 point mark and finished his career with a total of 1,316 points, 20th on the school's all-time scoring list.
Dr. Bellamah was a halfback at the UC from 1946 to 1949. During the 1948 and 1949 seasons, Bellamah was the leading rusher for the Bearcats. In 1949 Bellamah averaged 4.8 yards per carry and helped lead the Bearcats to a victory over Miami (OH), where he rushed for 185 yards and a 55 yard touchdown. After attending UC, Bellamah went on to become a surgeon in the Cincinnati area, well-known for performing gastric bypass surgery.
These two former Bearcats will be remembered for their commitment and contributions as student-athletes at UC.
