CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team welcomes California (Pa.) on Wednesday, March 7, at 1 p.m. in the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.

The Bearcats look to add to their three-match winnning streak after sweeping conference foes Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Connecticut in a BIG EAST homestand on Feb. 24-Feb. 26.

Cincinnati (4-8) was paced in its homestand by stellar play from junior Jasmine Lee who swept all three of her singles matches in straight sets and teamed with sophomore Ashleigh Witte to earn two doubles play victories. The three singles play wins upped Lee's singles play season record to 5-7.

Ashleigh Witte also swept all three of her singles matches and maintained her standing as the team-leader in singles play action with a 6-6 overall record.

Senior Safiyya Ismail and freshman Kristina Georgieva turned in an impressive showing in doubles play by sweeping their three matches by decisions of 8-5, 8-5 and 8-4. They each carrried their success over to singles play where they individually claimed victories in two out of the three singles matches.

Sophomore Carly Wilson picked up her first victory of the season with a 7-5, 6-2 decision against Connecticut's Marie Gargiulo.

The California (Pa.) Vulcans will enter play with a 6-1 overall season record and a No. 11 NCAA Division II ranking. The Vulcans are fresh off of a 9-0 victory over Denison, the No. 6 team in NCAA Division III. Cal U was led by the play of freshman Ramona Czakon who improved her season singles play record to 15-1 after claiming a 6-0, 6-2 decision against Denison's Jolien Borrenberghs.

The Vulcans hope to continue their strong play against BIG EAST competion after knocking off both Villanova and West Virginia last season.
