ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team bounced back in a big way with a 7-0 victory against the NCAA Division II No. 31 team Augustana (S.D.) (14-3) on Tuesday afternoon in Orlando, Fla.
The Bearcats got off to a quick start in an effort to snap their three-match losing streak by sweeping all three doubles matches to capture the doubles point.
Jasmine Lee and Ashleigh Witte defeated Kathrynn Jesperson and Michelle Wadas 8-3, while Kristina Georgieva and Safiyya Ismail dropped Hannah Gebauer and Heather Sullivan in a 9-7 decision.
Sierra Sullivan and Carly Wilson were able to claim the duo's first doubles victory of the season with an 8-2 decision over Augustana's Gabrielle Kachena and Adrienne Conley.
Cincinnati's sharp play continued into singles where the Bearcats swept all six singles matches in straight sets.
Jasmine Lee topped Kathrynn Jesperson 6-2, 6-2, while Kristina Georgieva dropped Michelle Wadas 6-2, 6-1.
In the No. 3 singles position, Ashleigh Witte bested Hannah Gebauer 6-1, 6-0, with Sierra Sullivan dropping Heather Sullivan 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles position.
Safiyya Ismail blanked Liz Lewis 6-0, 6-0, while Carly Wilson picked up her second singles play win of the season with a 7-6, 6-0 decision over Augustana's Adrienne Conley.
Ashleigh Witte upped her overall season singles play record to 8-8 and remains the team leader in singles play wins.
Jasmine Lee improved her season singles play record to 7-9, all of which coming in the No. 1 singles position.
Cincinnati (5-11) will return to action tomorrow afternoon to conclude their spring break trip with a 12 p.m. match against Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Orlando, Fla.
