EDGEWATER, Md. - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team (3-6) fought back from a 8-0 deficit to start the game and came within three, but couldn't hold on as it was defeated by Oregon (7-4), 20-10, on Sunday afternoon at South River High School in Edgewater, Md.

Junior attack Marissa Pierson (Skyesville, Md./Century) and senior midfielder Laura Simanski (Riesterstown, Md./Roland Park) led the way with four goals each, while senior midfielder Rachel Mercier (Catonsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian Academy) continued her scoring streak with one goal. She has recorded at least one goal in every game this season.

The Ducks came out of the gate hot, scoring its first goal just 63 seconds into the contest and building its lead to 8-0 midway through the first half. Pierson stopped Cincinnati's scoring drought at the 13:04 mark. Oregon scored two more during the remainder of the half, while UC caught its stride and netted six to make it a 10-7 game at the break.

Senior MacKenzie Parsons (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) put Cincinnati on the board to start the second half, but eight-consecutive goals by Oregon over a 14-minute span put the game out of the Bearcats' reach. Simanski scored the final two, including one in the final second, to settle the final 20-10 score.

UC's Jennifer Walsh (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) finished with eight saves, while Oregon's Caroline Federighi and Salliebeth Finnegan combined for four.

The Bearcats continue its BIG EAST slate when it welcomes Georgetown on Thursday, April 5 at 3:30 p.m. at Nippert Stadium.
