CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team opened the spring season with a 2-1 loss against Evansville on Sunday in Gettler Stadium.
Evansville jumped on top in the 10th minute on a free kick. Matt Remaley knotted things up in the 18th minute on a right-footed volley off a failed clearance.
Taylor Hafling played the first half in goal and made a pair of point-blank saves as the Bearcats and Purple Aces went into halftime tied at 1-1.
Evansville scored the winner 18 minutes into the second half. Despite a number of good chances, the Bearcats were unable to equalize and fell to 0-1 on the spring.
Robert Hasselfeld made one save while playing the second half between the pipes.
UC is next in action at the Dayton Spring Tournament on Saturday at UD.
