CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati football team closed out its second-to-last week of spring football Friday, working out for just over two hours under the bubble in the Sheakley Athletics Center.
The workout was the 11th of the spring for the Bearcats who are set to close spring football with Bearcat Bowl VI, presented by Fifth Third Bank on Saturday, April 14 from 4-5:30 p.m. ET inside historic Nippert Stadium.
After spending two days in white jerseys, the defense is on a two-practice streak of keeping the black jerseys, earning one-point wins the last two days thanks to plays during the final period of practice.
Following practice, the Bearcats rehersed for their flag holding duties at the Cincinnati Reds game Saturday night, unfurling a giant American Flag across the SAC turf.
Junior punter Pat O'Donnell (Lakeworth, Fla./Palm Beach Central), today's interview on GoBEARCATS.com, was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection in 2011, leading the conference in net punting average. His 43.81 yards per punt tally ranked among the Top-20 in the nation. He will be a junior after receiving a medical redshirt for his freshman season, and is one of the top returning punters in the country in 2012.
TEAM SET TO HOLD FLAG AT REDS GAME SATURDAY
The Bearcats will travel to Great American Ball Park Saturday to take part in opening night ceremonies prior to the Cincinnati Reds matchup with the Miami Marlins at 7:10 p.m. The Bearcats will hold the American Flag in the outfield for the National Anthem and will sign autographs on the concourse during the game. Opening night festivities also feture the Rusty Griswolds, a Reds calendar giveaway to the first 25,000 fans and a postgame fireworks show. For tickets, call 513-381-REDS (7337) or visit reds.com.
