COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Cincinnati men's golf team competes at the fifth-annual Columbia Orthopedic Group Missouri Intercollegiate beginning Monday. The two-day, 54-hole event takes place at the Club at Hawthorne (7,221-yard, par 72).

Cincinnati will play 36 holes on Monday and the remaining 18 holes on Tuesday. UC's competition includes host Missouri, Austin Peay, Belmont, Binghamton, Creighton, Iowa State, IUPUI, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, Purdue, South Dakota State and Wisconsin.

"The Club at Old Hawthorne poses a great test for our team," head coach Doug Martin said. "The par threes and par fives are extremely difficult. They are long and demanding."

Juniors David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) and Andrew Desmarais (Union, Ky./Ryle) and freshmen Michael Wolf (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) and Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) will represent the Bearcats in their third spring tournament of the season. Freshman Mike Irwin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) will compete in his first event of the spring.

"We are coming down the stretch run of our season with three freshmen in the lineup," Martin said. "They have gained great experience this year and hopefully it will help them at the upcoming Big East Championship. This week is another great opportunity for some players to build some confidence."
