LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team fell 6-1 to BIG EAST rival Louisville (11-8) in UC's final BIG EAST regular season match of the year on Saturday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in Louisville, Ky.

The Bearcats got behind early as they were swept in doubles action by the Cardinals who secured the doubles point. In the No. 1 position, Jasmine Lee and Ashleigh Witte were defeated 8-3 by U of L's Mandy Brown and Julia Fellerhoff. Kristina Georgieva and Safiyya Ismail were also defeated in an 8-1 decision by Amelia Harris and Sarah Miller, while Sierra Sullivan and Carly Wilson fell as well in an 8-4 decision to Stefanie Villajuan and Gabrielle Duncan.

The Bearcats lone point of the match came in singles play where Ashleigh Witte defeated Mandy Brown 4-6, 6-1, 10-6. The win is Witte's 12th of the season.

UC struggled in the remaining singles positions with Jasmine Lee falling 6-2, 6-3 to Julia Fellerhoff in the No. 1 position and Kristina Georgieva dropping a 6-2, 6-1 decision against Rebecca Shine in the No. 2 position.

Sierra Sullivan was shut out 6-0, 6-0 by Manuela Velasquez, with Carly Wilson also being blanked 6-0, 6-0 by Amelia Harris. Safiyya Ismail suffered a quick defeat as well, a 6-1, 6-0 loss against U of L's Sarah Miller.

Cincinnati (7-15) returns to action tomorrow, April 15, at 12 p.m. when they travel to Huntington, W.Va. to face the Marshall Thundering Herd in UC's final regular season match of the year.
