UC Falls To No. 2 Syracuse On Senior Day

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team (3-11, 0-7 BIG EAST) was defeated by No. 2 Syracuse (13-2, 6-0), 22-5, on Sunday afternoon at Nippert Stadium. Senior Laura Simanski (Reisterstown, Md./Roland Park) and junior Kylie Ramsland (Catonsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian Academy) led the Bearcats on Senior Day with two goals each.

The Bearcats came out of the gate quick, putting the first points on the board after just 46 seconds. It became a back-and-forth battle in the first six minutes, as Ramsland knotted it at 3-3 with 24:11 on the clock. But the Orange went on a 7-0 scoring run to put the game in SU's control, 10-3, with 7:28 remaining in the first half. UC scored one more in the remaining minutes to head into the locker room down 12-4.

Cincinnati was held to only one goal in the second half as Syracuse steadily built its advantage before settling with a 22-5 victory.

Ten players scored for Syracuse, with Alyssa Murray leading the way with seven goals.

Sophomore Jennifer Walsh (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) finished with eight saves, while Syracuse's Alyssa Constantino had six.

Cincinnati travels for a pair of contests next weekend, beginning with Notre Dame on Saturday, April 28 at 12 p.m. The Bearcats travel to face Detroit on Monday, April 30 at 2 p.m. to close out the regular season.
