SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team (3-12, 0-8 BIG EAST) was defeated by No. 6 Notre Dame (13-3, 6-2 BIG EAST), 22-2, in its 2012 BIG EAST Conference finale on Saturday afternoon at Arlotta Stadium.
Senior Rachel Mercier (Catonsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian Academy) continued her point-scoring streak with one assist against the Fighting Irish. UC's all-time leading scorer Laura Simanski (Reisterstown, Md./Roland Park) and junior Marissa Pierson (Sykesville, Md./Century) each recorded goals for the Bearcats.
Cincinnati scored its only goals in the first half, while being overcome with Notre Dame's offensive force, who outshot UC, 36-6.
Jennifer Walsh (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) had seven saves, while three goalies shared time in the net for ND and combined for three saves.
The Bearcats conclude the 2012 regular season when it travels to Detroit on Monday, April 30 for a 2 p.m. draw.
