ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Cincinnati freshman Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) moved into a tie for 19th place following second-round action at the BIG EAST Championship at Reunion Resort (par 72, 7.089 yards).
Howard finished the day with a two 4-over par 76 for a total score of 72-76=148. Notre Dame's Max Scodro took the lead heading into the final round with a 69-68=137 performance.
As a team, the Bearcats carded a score of 313-305=618 to move into an 11th place tie with Rutgers (312-306=618). Notre Dame maintained its lead entering the final round 6-under par 570.
UC junior David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) slipped two spots to 49th place at 79-76=155. Freshman Michael Wolf (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) finished 4-above par to move into 50th place at 81-76=157. Junior Andrew Desmarias (Union, Ky./Ryle) and freshman Mike Irwin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) are tied for 52nd. Desmarias earned a score of 81-80=161 while Irwin took off seven strokes following the first round for an 84-77=161 score.
"Monday's play was an improvement from Sunday, but not what was needed to climb the leaderboard, UC head coach Doug Martin said. "We continue to make unforced errors that we cannot recover from. Tuesday will be our last round of the season. Hopefully, we can build some positive momentum going into the off season."
