CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Men's Soccer team wrapped up its 2012 spring season with its annual alumni weekend.
The festivities began on Saturday with the alumni golf tournament at the Vineyard Golf Course. Two groups tied for first in the captain's choice best-ball scramble format. Following golf, a reception was held with a barbeque dinner and raffle prizes. Despite the weather (original tee times were pushed back), the outing was a success with around 40 golfers and over 60 attending the dinner reception.
The annual alumni match was held on Sunday in Gettler Stadium. The current Bearcats prevailed, 7-2, despite often playing 11-on-13 against the cagey alumni squad. Alumni team members ranged from the class of 1976 to 2011 grads. Alumni goals were scored by Sam Klosterman (2011) and Mark Konitsch (2010). Andre Sharpe posted a hat trick for the current Bearcats and was aided by goals from Ashani Walker, Leon Powell, Cole DeNormandie, and Matt Bahner.
Following the match the current and former Bearcats gathered at Martino's for food and drinks to wrap up the weekend. The men's soccer program would like to express its thanks to all the alumni who participated.
