CINCINNATI - Former University of Cincinnati swimmer Josh Schneider is set to open preliminary round competition in the 50-meter freestyle at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Saturday at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

The preliminary rounds are set to get underway at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday.

Schneider, the 2010 NCAA Champion in the 50-yard freestyle, holds the No. 6 seed in the event with his personal-best long-course time of 22.10 from the 2012 Charlotte UltraSwim Grand Prix. He is the American Record Holder in the short-course 50-meter freestyle (20.88).

This is Schneider's second race in Omaha after making the semifinals in the 100 freestyle with the eighth-fastest time of 49.37 in the preliminaries. He clocked 49.77 in the semis and did not advance to the final.

If he clocks one of the Top-16 times in the preliminaries, Schneider would advance to the one of two Saturday evening semifinals at 7:51 p.m. ET. The 50 freestyle final is on Sunday at 7:51 p.m.

NBC Sports Network will air coverage of the preliminaries from 6:30-8 p.m. ET on Saturday with live coverage of the semifinals from 8-9 p.m. on NBC.
