CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team has announced details for its third annual golf outing, which will be held Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Pebble Creek Golf Course. The all-day event includes lunch at 12 p.m., shotgun start at 1:30 p.m., followed by a dinner at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Former UC men's basketball legend and 12-time NBA All-Star Oscar Robertson will serve as the honorary chair of the event. The Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame inductee and National Association of Basketball Coaches' Player of the Century played varsity basketball at UC from 1958 through 1960 and still ranks as the school's all-time leader in points (2,973), rebounds (1,338), field goals made (1,052) and free throws made (869). He was a three-year consensus All-American and three-time pick for National Player of the Year honors. Robertson helped UC to a 97-7 record and two NCAA Final Four appearances (1959 and 1960) during his college career.
Head coach Jamelle Elliott and her squad will also recognize Executive Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator Robin Martin for her outstanding contributions to the women's basketball program.
"We are excited to be having our third annual women's basketball golf tournament this year," Elliott said. "We are extremely fortunately this year to have the great Oscar Robertson serve as our Honorary Chair. In addition we are recognizing a huge advocate and supporter of women's basketball, Senior Woman Administrator Robin Martin. We are looking forward to an exciting day of great golf, great food, and spending time with great people."
Registration is $125 and includes 18 holes of golf, a participant gift, lunch and barbeque dinner, team and individual prizes, in addition to a raffle and silent auction. Participants can purchase a tee sign for $100 and non-golfers can attend the dinner only for $30 per person. Registration forms can be found here.
