CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati soccer standout Cole DeNormandie (Lincoln, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) helped the Crew Juniors U-20 and U-19 teams to championship appearances over the past two weekends.

The sophomore forward, who earned BIG EAST All-Rookie honors last season after scoring a team-leading seven goals as a freshman, competed with the Columbus Crew's junior academy teams in the United Soccer Leagues Super-Y National Championship in Bradenton, Fla., on July 19-22 and in the US Youth Soccer National Championship in Rock Hill, S.C., on July 24-29.

DeNormandie's efforts helped the U-19 team to the national title on July 29 with a 2-1 win over the Georgia Soccer Academy Phoenix. The forward scored two goals in the preliminary round - both game winners - which put the Crew Juniors (3-1-0) into the final.

In the U-20 competition, DeNormandie scored two goals in five matches, including the game winner in a 1-0 victory against Orlando City Youth Soccer. He led Crew Juniors to the final, where the squad fell to Chicago Fire, 3-1.

"It was a great experience and a great opportunity for me to play with 25 of the best college soccer players in the Midwest," DeNormandie said. "Every day was a challenge. We played nine games in 11 days and it really prepared me for the college season. I'm excited to get back to campus and kick things off for the fall."

The Bearcats report for preseason training on Tuesday, Aug. 7, and open exhibition play on Aug. 12 against Eastern Illinois in Gettler Stadium.
