CINCINNATI - A difficult slate of tournaments featuring some of the top collegiate teams and individual men's golf players in the nation highlight the 2012-13 University of Cincinnati men's golf schedule released Friday by head coach Doug Martin.

"Without a doubt it's the best schedule we've been able to put together during my tenure," said Martin who is in his sixth season with the men's golf program and his third as its head coach. "It puts our players in competitive tournaments against some of the country's most talented competition. Playing in these tournaments will only help them develop further."

The fall season begins at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate (Sept. 1-3) in Verona, N.Y. UC also travels to the Marshall Invitational (Sept. 9-11) in Huntington, W. Va. and the Cardinal Intercollegiate (Sept. 23-25) in Louisville, Ky., before playing host to the Bearcats Invitational (Oct. 7-9) at Traditions Golf Club in Hebron, Ky. The Bearcats conclude their fall campaign at the Cabo Intercollegiate (Oct. 15-17) in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The spring season has the Bearcats competing at the USF Invitational (March 3-5) in Tampa, Fla.; the Seminole Intercollegiate (March 15-17) in Tallahassee, Fla.; the Memphis Intercollegiate (March 24-26) in Memphis, Tenn.; the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship (April 7-9) in West Point, Miss.; and the BIG EAST Championship (April 28-30) in Orlando, Fla.

"Our first tournament of the fall season, the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate, is played on a course that has hosted a PGA tour event," Martin said. "In the spring, we'll take part in several tournaments that will include a who's who in the game at events hosted by USF, Memphis, Florida State and Mississippi State."

The Bearcats return their top player from last season, senior David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio) who finished as UC's top scorer in nine tournaments. He led the squad with a 74.79 stroke average. Most recently, Tepe qualified for the U.S. Amateur to be played Aug. 13-19 at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo.
