PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team has been picked to finish sixth in the BIG EAST's Red Division by a vote of the league's coaches, the conference announced on Monday (Aug. 6).

A youthful corps returns for UC in 2012, including BIG EAST all-Rookie team selection Cole DeNormandie, who leads four Bearcats who were recognized among the Top 100 freshman by TopDrawerSoccer.com in 2011: Matt Remaley, Will Diebold, and Emmanuel Appiah. Second-team all-BIG EAST selection Matt Bahner, who scored seven goals in 2010, returns after missing last season due to injury.

Head coach Hylton Dayes, who has won 92 matches on the UC sidelines, returns for his 12th season.

The Bearcats have earned a berth in the BIG EAST Tournament in five of the last seven seasons, including the program's first BIG EAST Semifinal appearance in 2010.

UC opens exhibition play on Sunday, Aug. 12, against Eastern Illinois in Gettler Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
