CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati senior Jordanne Scott has been named a COBRA Magazine Preseason Player of the Year candidate, as well as a first-team All-Preseason selection, as announced by the magazine.

Scott, who was named the 2011 COBRA Magazine Midwest Player of the Year, led the Bearcats with 388 kills last season. She also paced the team with 3.46 kills per set and finished second with 0.84 blocks per set. The middle blocker/right-side hitter has been named to the magazine's All-National team for three-consecutive years, earning second-team honors in 2009 and 2010 and being placed on the first team in 2011. Scott also is a two-time AVCA All-America nominee, garnering honorable mention awards in 2010 and 2011.

COBRA is a magazine that features African American, Samoan, Tongan and Afro-Caribbean volleyball players in hopes of inspiring younger players from those ethnic groups to play volleyball and become successful women on and off the court.

The Bearcats open the 2012 season against Iowa State on Aug. 24 at the University of Tennessee Tournament. They will open the home schedule at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 against Western Kentucky at Fifth Third Arena.
