CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. - University of Cincinnati senior David Tepe posted a 3-over par 73 to tie for 119th place after the first round of stroke play competition at the 112th U.S. Amateur.

Tepe, a native of Liberty Township, Ohio, made par on 13 holes on the Common Ground Golf Course (7,378 yards, Par 70) to go along with one birdie and four bogeys. He is 10 shots behind the leader in the 311-player field, Bobby Wyatt who carded a 7-under par 64.

Tepe is three shots behind a cluster of players tied for 64th place - the cutoff mark for players advancing to the match play competition beginning Wednesday. Tepe plays in the final round of the stroke play event Tuesday at the Cherry Hills Country Club (7,409 yards, par 71). His tee time is set for 2:55 p.m. ET.

Tepe qualified for the U.S. Amateur after finishing second (2-under par 140) in a two-round qualifier at Coldstream Country Club in Anderson, Ohio on July 30. He is the first Bearcat to participate in the U.S. Amateur since Joe Kastelic in 2010.
