CINCINNATI
- The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will open the 2012 season at the Tennessee Tournament in Knoxville, Tenn., on Friday and Saturday. The Bearcats will begin the season with a trio of formidable opponents in No. 10 Iowa State, No. 15 Tennessee and No. 12 Florida State.

Series History:

Iowa State: ISU leads the series 2-1, winning 3-1 in 2011

Tennessee: The series is tied 3-3. The Bearcats won the last meeting 3-2 in 2000.

Florida State: The Seminoles lead the series 15-2 and won the last matchup 3-2 in 2011.

Story Lines:

  • The Bearcats begin the season with hopes to defend their 2011 BIG EAST Championship title. It was the first BIG EAST Championship victory in program history.
  • Cincinnati was picked fourth in the BIG EAST preseason coaches' poll.
  • Head Coach Molly Alvey will take the reins in her first season with Cincinnati. She is joined on the coaching staff by Nicole Miller and Steve Vencl.
  • Senior Jordanne Scott was an All-BIG EAST preseason pick for the second consecutive season. She is also a two-time All-BIG EAST first team member (2010 and 2011) and a two-time AVCA All-America honorable mention pick (2010 and 2011).
  • The Bearcats are hoping to avenge their 2011 loss to the Seminoles. FSU knocked UC out of the NCAA Championship in the second round with a 3-2 tally.
