CINCINNATI - First-year University of Cincinnati lacrosse head coach Gina Oliver announced the addition of seven freshmen for the 2013 season today.
"We are really excited to welcome this freshmen class to the University of Cincinnati," Oliver said. "All seven players embody what our program is all about: competitive and disciplined on and off the field. We can't be more thrilled about these women becoming a part of the Bearcat family and we can't wait for them to put their mark on this program."
The seven incoming freshmen include:
Kyara Byner
Defense | Fr. | Franklin, Tenn. | Ensworth
High School: Four-year defender for Ensworth High School … team won state championship her freshman year … finished as state runner-up her senior year … named all-region as a freshman … earned all-region, all-tournament and All-America honors during her senior campaign.
Personal: Born November 1, 1993 … daughter of Tina and Earnest Byner … has three sisters, Adriana, Semeria, and Brandi … father Earnest Byner is the running backs coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a former running back for the Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens … sister Brandi Byner plays on the Vanderbilt lacrosse team … majoring in sports administration.
Courtney Curtis
Midfield | Fr. | Mason, Ohio | William Mason
High School: Four-year letterman at midfield … team made it to regionals her junior and senior seasons … named to all-district and all-state teams her final two seasons … named an All-American as a senior.
Personal: Born June 21, 1994 … daughter of Jamie and Carey Curtis … has two sisters, Maddie and Jordan … majoring in early childhood education.
Sarah Del Bene

Meagan Gulmi

High School: Started three years in goal ... four-year letterwinner … junior and senior team captain … named ESPN Top-10 goalie in the country as a senior … competed with Long Island Metro School girls' team, where she won school girls' national tournament in 2011 … a member of the Under Armor All-America Long Island Team as a junior … also named to all-county and All-Galaxy during her junior season.
Personal: Born August 2, 1994 … daughter of Noreen and Robert Gulmi … has one brother, Robert, and one sister, Kayla … majoring in pre-physical therapy.
Holly Lucke

High School: Started all four years for lacrosse team … finished with 41 goals, 31 assists, 158 ground balls, 68 draw controls and 49 caused turnovers … two-time US Lacrosse Academic All-American as a junior and senior … three-time coaches all-county … also competed in field hockey (2008-10), cross country (2011), indoor track (2009, 2012) and basketball (2010).
Personal: Born January 11, 1994 … daughter of Walter Lucke … has one brother, Hayden … majoring in psychology.
Kaila Roberts

High School: Played four years at midfield … senior team captain … finished with 160 career goals, 25 assists, 112 ground balls, and 118 draw controls … named first-team all-state and first-team all-district as a sophomore … earned first-team all-state, first-team all-district and named team MVP her junior and senior years … played in Champion all-state showcase in 2012 … named first-team All-American as a senior … also a four-year letterwinner in soccer, where she earned second-team All-Cincinnati Hills League (CHL) as a junior, as well as first-team All-CHL, CHL player of the week as a senior … also played in senior all-star game and was an all-Ohio member in soccer … swam freestyle and breaststroke for two years.
