CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team fell to University of Nebraska 2-1 Sunday afternoon at a wet and rainy Gettler Stadium, snapping the Bearcats' three-match win streak.

Leading by one for the majority of the match, Nebraska (2-4-0) took a two-goal lead in the 85th minute when freshman midfielder Katie Kraeutner's shot from 30 yards slipped through the hands of Bearcats sophomore goalkeeper Kristina Utley (Castro Valley, Calif./Castro Valley) and into the goal.

Kraeutner's goal proved to be the game winner as the Bearcats (3-1-1) cut the deficit in half just seconds later when sophomore forward Mackenzie Grause (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) blasted a goal from the top of the 18-yard marker.

Grause, UC's leading scorer in 2011, now has two goals in the 2012 campaign.

UC furiously tried to tie the score in the closing minutes of the match, substituting defenders for extra offensive players, as the Bearcats outshot the Corn Huskers 8-1 in the final 22 minutes, 30 seconds.

Nebraska grabbed the lead in the 7th minute of the match when Huskers freshman forward Alex Massey took a deflection from a corner kick and headed a shot into the net for her first collegiate goal.

Both teams ended with 19 shots, with UC outshooting Nebraska 12-7 in the second half after the Huskers did the same in the first half.

Grause and freshman forward Laura Rose (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) finished the match with a team-high four shot attempts. UN sophomore forward Mayme Conroy took a match-high five shots.

Utley and UN keeper Amy Swearer both recorded six saves in 90 minutes.

The Huskers were the aggressors on offense in the opening moments of the match. Through the first 22:30, Nebraska outshot UC 7-2 and took two corner kicks compared to one for Cincinnati.

The Bearcats turned up the offensive pressure in the final 22:30 of the first half, attempting five shots. Rose and junior forward Jazmine Rhodes (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Polytechnic) each led UC in the first half with two shots.

UC will travel to the Centennial State next weekend to participate in the Denver University Invitational. The Bearcats will open with UC-Irvine (6:30 p.m. ET Friday) and close with Colorado (1 p.m. Sunday).
