CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will play its first home match on Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m. against Western Kentucky at Fifth Third Arena.
Cincinnati (1-5) is coming off its first win of the season, a 3-0 (28-26, 25-15, 25-20) victory over Drake in the finale of the La Quinta Invitational. The win also was the first for head coach Molly Alvey since taking the reins of the program.
Series History:
UC dominates the series with a 17-3 record. The last match was a 3-2 Bearcat victory in 2011 in Cincinnati.
Story Lines:
- Senior Megan Turner was named to the La Quinta Invitational All-Tournament team after averaging 3.36 kills per set and a .403 attacking percentage in the three matches. In the tournament finale against Drake, the outside hitter registered a career-high 20 kills and a .594 percentage.
- Seniors Jordanne Scott and Becca Refenes each played in their 400th career set at the La Quinta Invitational. Scott's milestone came in the second set of the 3-1 loss to Northwestern while Refenes reached the mark in the third set of the 3-0 victory over Drake.
- Senior Rachel Rohlfs set a career-high in assists with 53 against Drake.
- Scott leads the Bearcats with 78 kills and 4.11 kills/set. Turner leads with a .323 attacking percentage on 56 kills. Rohlfs leads the team with 11.25 assists per set and junior Emily MacIntyre paces with Bearcats with 3.52 digs per set. Refenes is leading with 20 blocks and 0.95 blocks/set.
