CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will host three teams this weekend for the annual Big Ten/BIG EAST Challenge. The Bearcats will match up against two ranked opponents, facing No. 20 Illinois at 7 p.m. on Sept 7 and No. 11 Purdue at 7 p.m. on Sept. 8. UC also will welcome BIG EAST partner Louisville, who play the Big Ten foes at 4:30 p.m. on each day.

Series Histories:

Illinois: The Bearcats are 5-7 agaisnt the Fighting Illini. The last match was a 3-0 loss on Sept. 16, 2011 in Champaign, Ill. The loss came in the 2011 Big Ten/BIG EAST Challenge.

Purdue: Cincinnati is 4-8 against the Boilermakers. The teams last met in last season's Big Ten/BIG EAST Challenge on Sept. 17, 2011 in Champaign, Ill. Purdue won the match 3-0.

Story Lines:

  • Seniors Megan Turner and Emily Hayden were named to the La Quinta Invitational All-Tournament team on Sept. 1.
  • Turner registered a career-high 20 kills and a .594 attacking percentage in a 3-0 win over Drake on Sept. 1.
  • Seniors Jordanne Scott and Becca Refenes each played in their 400th career set during the La Quinta Invitational.
  • Four current players are ranked among the program's elite in three different career statistical categories. Senior Emily Hayden ranks sixth in career hitting percentage with a .302 mark. Junior Emily MacIntyre sits at third in the record book with 3.79 career digs per set. Senior Becca Refenes is currently in eighth with 361 block assists. She also is 4 blocks away from moving into 10th place in career total blocks (413). Senior Jordanne Scott is seventh in career hitting percentage with a .301 mark.
