CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will face its second top-15 opponent in as many matches when it travels to Dayton, Ohio on Wed., Oct. 31 to play No. 14 University of Dayton at 7 p.m.

The Halloween matchup will be the Bearcats' 16th in program history, of which they have won the last six, including a 3-1 Halloween win over Dayton in 2006.

UC enters the weekend with a 9-15 record and a 7-4 mark in BIG EAST play. The Bearcats currently sit at fourth in the league standings after falling to league-leading No. 13 Louisville on Oct. 28.

The past six matchups between the Bearcats and the Flyers have been dominated by the home team, a trend Cincinnati will hope to reverse on Wednesday. The teams have not played since 2009, but between 2004 and 2009 the home team came away victorious in each match.

DAYTON SERIES

Cincinnati is 22-19-1 against the Flyers in a series that dates back to 1972. The last installment of the in-state rivalry was played on Sept. 29, 2009 when the Flyers topped the Bearcats 3-1 in Dayton, Ohio. Then-freshman Megan Turner recorded 11 kills, eight digs and two blocks in the contest while classmate Jordanne Scott added seven kills and five blocks.

ABOUT THE FLYERS

No. 14 Dayton is 19-4 this season and 11-0 in the Atlantic-10 Conference. The Flyers are a perfect 10-0 at home and have won their last 11 matches, dating back to Sept. 21. UD has been ranked in the AVCA Coaches' Poll for nine consecutive weeks, and reached a program-best No. 10 on Sept. 3 after beating No. 7 Illinois and No. 11 Pepperdine to open the season. The Flyers have either been ranked or receiving votes in the poll since Nov. 23, 2009. Dayton is led by Rachel Krabacher who ranks seventh in the nation with a 4.61 kills/set average.

Story Lines:

  • The Bearcats are now 5-3 in the month of October. Dating back to the 2008 season, Cincinnati is 41-6 during the month.
    • Senior Jordanne Scott has recorded double-digit kills in all but three matches this season. Overall, Scott has hit in double digits in 37 of the last 40 matches, dating back to Oct. 18, 2011 vs. Western Kentucky. Scott's season-high kills for the 2012 season is 24 (one shy of her career-high) tallied on Sept. 23 against DePaul.
    • Cincinnati ranks seventh in the BIG EAST with a .213 hitting percentage. It also ranks sixth with 12.45 assists/set and sixth with 13.30 kills/set.
    • Scott's 4.38 kills/set rank her second in the BIG EAST and 16th in the NCAA. Rohlfs is fourth the conference with 10.61 assists/set. MacIntyre ranks fourth in the conference, and 35th in the NCAA, with 5.26 digs/set.
    • Four current players are ranked among the program's elite in eight different career statistical categories. Senior Emily Hayden is sixth in career hitting percentage with a .307 mark. Junior Emily MacIntyre sits at second in the record book with a 4.21 career digs per set clip. She also ranks third with 1,472 career digs. Senior Becca Refenes is currently in sixth with 404 block assists. She also has 460 career blocks to put her at tenth and needs only one more block to move into ninth. Refenes has played in 133 matches is one away from moving into 10th for career matches played. She also has appeared in 470 sets and is two away from 10th place in that category. Senior Jordanne Scott has recorded 1,532 career kills to rank her seventh in program history and is two away from moving up into the sixth spot (1,534). She also ranks 10th with 3,410 total attempts and ninth with 475 career sets played. Scott has played in 133 career matches and is one away from moving into 10th place.
