CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams dropped a dual meet versus Kentucky on Senior Day Saturday at Keating Aquatics Center.
The UC men fell to UK 152-115 and the Cincinnati women lost 158-116.
Weronika Wasiakowska earned the Bearcats nine first-place points in the women's 50-yard freestyle after the junior finished in 23.68 seconds, which tied her personal record previously set Dec. 1, 2011 at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational. She added a second-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 51.73.
Freshman Taylor Myszka was the second Bearcat to claim a first-place individual win after she produced a mark of 5:06.19 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Erin Frye tallied four second-place points in both the women's 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes when the senior clocked in at 59.60 and 2:10.63, respectively. Her 100 back time was one second behind Kentucky's Frida Jakobsson.
Sammie Wheeler finished second in the women's 100-yard breaststroke with a recorded time of 1:06.58.
In the men's division Mike Craig produced a second-place mark of 58.71 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke, which was 1.32 ticks out of first place.
Prior to the swimming events, 10 Bearcats seniors - Griffin Davis, Chris Hale, Matt Hargrove and Roberto Nevarez on the men's team, and Alicia Berman, Shannon Conners, Frye, Brittany Groene, Bailey Laban, Ashley Yanzsa on the women's - were honored during Senior Day ceremonies.
Cincinnati wraps up regular-season action on Saturday, Feb. 9 when the Bearcats will travel to Dayton, Ohio to compete against Wright State University.
