CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's golf team wrapped up the first day at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla., at the Southwood Golf Course. The Bearcats finished the day in 11th place.

The team shot a 306 during the first round of play on the 72-par course. Sophomore Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) paced the Bearcats, shooting two over par for a 74 to tie for 39th place. Freshman Blake Hamilton (Union, Ky./Ryle) finished one stroke behind Howard at 75 (tied for 45th place) and freshman Emerson Newsome (Hoschton, Ga./Mill Creek) recorded a 78 (57th place). Senior David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) and sophomore Michael Wolf (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) rounded out the Cincinnati contention with scores of 79 and 81, respectively.

No. 20 Florida State leads the 11-team field with a 277, 11 strokes under par. No. 43 Mississippi State, No. 48 Coastal Carolina and South Florida complete the top-four teams while seven of the 11 teams scored either even par or under par in the first round.

Individually, South Florida's Chase Koepka sits in first place with a seven-under par score of 65. No. 5 Daniel Berger, the only ranked individual player in the field, placed second with a 67.

Round two will be played on Sat., March 16. The Bearcats will all tee off between 8:20 and 9:04 a.m.
