Bearcats Fall 19-0 to No. 16 Loyola

BALTIMORE - The University of Cincinnati women's lacrosse team (4-4, 0-2) lost a 19-0 decision to No. 16 Loyola (Md.) in BIG EAST play Sunday.

The Greyhounds got off to a quick start, scoring four times in the first 10 minutes of play. They would add another four goals over the next 3:14 to take an 8-0 lead with 15:26 to play in the first half.

UC held the Greyhounds scoreless over the next 10 minutes, as Meg Bell and Courtney Curtis each caused LU turnovers. The Bearcats picked up five ground balls and Meg Gulmi recorded three saves during this span.

Molly Hulseman ended the Loyola scoring drought, netting a goal with 5:09 to play in the first half to give her team a 9-0 lead. The Greyhounds would add two goals before the end of the period, taking an 11-0 lead at intermission.

The Greyhounds scored another eight goals in the second half to seal the 19-0 victory.

Gulmi played just under 40 minutes and recorded five saves with 15 goals against her. Junior goalkeeper Jennifer Walsh played most of the second half and had four goals against her with one save.

Loyola's Joanna Dalton scored a game-high four goals on four shots. Marlee Patton added three goals, while eight other Greyhounds chipped in 12 goals.

The Bearcats caused 10 turnovers, picked up 15 ground balls and controlled 5 draws.

UC returns to action Friday, March 29 when the play host to the Detroit Titans. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. at the Sheakley Athletics Center.
