CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team blanked Wright State University 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center on the UC campus. The win was the fourth consecutive for the Bearcats, a feat they had not accomplished since winning four straight in March of 2011. The match also was the first of the season held outdoors at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center.

The Bearcats got on the board first after topping the Raiders on all three doubles courts. The duo of freshman Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) and junior Carly Wilson (Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) kicked things off for UC, beating Megan McNamara and Liz Steingass 8-1 on court No. 3. Juniors Sierra Sullivan (Austin, Texas/Khabele School) and Ashleigh Witte (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West), the reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week, took care of business in the second position by downing Kayla Tuscany and Chelsea Girgash 8-2 to earn their fourth-straight victory. With all eyes on court No. 1, seniors Jasmine Lee (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak) and Caitlin O'Gara (Springboro, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) came from behind to top Amy Nini and Taylor Hines 8-6 and give UC the doubles sweep.

UC picked up a quick singles point when O'Gara kept a clean sheet and beat WSU's Nini 6-0, 6-0 in the second position. Poggensee-Wei won her team-leading 10th match of the season with a decisive 6-1, 6-0 victory over Hines on court No. 3. It marked her first career win from the third slot and her fourth straight singles victory. Freshman Hannah Wille (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway Central) then won her third straight match with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Girgash on court No. 4 to clinch the victory for the Bearcats.

UC also earned singles wins from Georgieva, Sullivan and Lee. Georgieva won 6-1, 6-1 over McNamara in the fifth hole, Sullivan topped Steingass 6-4, 6-3 in the sixth position and Lee beat Tuscany 6-1, 6-2 as the top seed.

Up next, the Bearcats will hit the road for a pair of matches in Pennsylvania. They will face California (Pa.) at 11 a.m. on Sat., April 6 and will square up against BIG EAST rival Pittsburgh at 11 a.m. on Sun., April 7.
