CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati men’s golf team and head coach Doug Martin have announced the signing of five athletes for the 2013 school year. Baxter Reeves, John Michael O’Toole, Chad Howard, Jared O’Kelly and Brennen Walsh will all join the team during the 2013-14 season.
Reeves and O’Toole will both transfer from Central Alabama Community College. The duo comes from the No. 1 ranked Junior College golf program in the country and the school has won seven tournaments to date. “Both Baxter and John Michael will immediately bring a winning attitude” said Martin. “They are favorites to win the national championship again this year. Both players will bring a great work ethic and a desire to play at the next level.”
O’Kelly will make the journey to Cincinnati from Georgia and has amassed a great juniors record. “I give Coach Stephens a thumbs up with Jared” said Martin. “I look forward to watching Jared grow as a solid player”.
“Brennen Walsh has proven to be one of the best local players” said Martin of the Elder high school product. “He starred at Elder and I look forward to him being a solid player for us.”
Howard will come from Jerome high school in Dublin, Ohio where he was part of a state championship team. “Chad has a lot of potential and will bring winning to the program” added Martin. “He has had junior golf success, yet I believe his best golf is in front of him.”
“Overall, this class brings a shot in the arm to the program” lamented Martin. “The amount of championship they bring with them excites me. I feel very good about the direction we are heading and I know the current players are also excited for these young men to arrive.”
