CINCINNATI - Senior Alex Carl (Union, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) and junior Olivia Dose (Goteborg, Sweden/Goteborg Hogre Samskola) of the University of Cincinnati women's golf team were both named to the 2013 All-BIG EAST Women's Golf Team, as announced by the conference on Thursday afternoon. It marks the fourth straight year Cincinnati has earned all-conference honors.
Carl earned her spot on the team after finishing in a tie for fifth place at the BIG EAST Championship in Orlando, Fla. on April 23. She closed the three-round tournament with a career-low 71 while earning a career-low three-round total of 75-73-71=219. She averaged 76.8 strokes per round over 29 rounds during the 2012-13 season and was UC's low scorer at two tournaments.
Dose paced the Bearcats throughout the season, earning the team's lowest finish in six tournaments. The junior averaged a team-low 75.2 strokes per round over 29 rounds and earned her lowest finish of the season at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational Oct., 21-23 when she tied for third place (69-77-74=220). She recorded a season-low single round score of 69 and a season-low three-round score of 217 (74-73-70). Dose finished the BIG EAST Championship in a tie for 20th place with a score of 75-79-79=231.
Carl and Dose become only the sixth and seventh UC women's golfers to earn All-BIG EAST honors, but represent the fourth straight year that a Bearcat has been honored. It also marks third year that two UC players have been named to the all-conference team, and the first since Bambee Dela Paz and Jenny Linville were named to the team in 2010.
