CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati golfer David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) has added another accolade to his growing resume. The senior was named to the 2013 All-BIG EAST Men's Golf Team, as announced by the conference on Thursday afternoon. Tepe becomes the fourth Bearcat to earn All-BIG EAST honors.
Tepe earned his spot on the all-conference team after taking home medalist honors at the BIG EAST Championship in Orlando, Fla., on April 30. He led the field of 60 competitors throughout the tournament and finished with an 8-under par score of 69-69-70=208. The win was the first BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship for the Bearcats.
He joins three former Bearcats who also collected All-BIG EAST honors, including Geoff Newman (2006), Alberto Fernandez (2009) and Joe Kastelic (2010).
Tepe averaged 76.0 strokes per round this year through 28 rounds of golf. He recorded two top-12 finishes and hit a low-round score of 68 during the final round of the Marshall Invitational on Sept. 11.
With his win at the BIG EAST Championship, Tepe earned a berth to compete in the NCAA Championship. He will participate in the Columbus Regional and will play at the Ohio State University Golf Club Scarlet Course on May 16-18.
