CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati tennis team capped off a solid showing at the Bowling Green State University Invitational Saturday, earning three singles titles and one doubles title during the two day event.

Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) won the second flight after defeating Katie Brozovich of BGSU. The sophomore won the first set 7-6(5), before falling in a lopsided score of 0-6 in the second set. Poggensee-Wei then rallied in the decisive set, taking a 6-3 victory.

Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) finished her first collegiate event undefeated winning in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) over Harley Hutchison of BGSU. Cincinnati was guaranteed a champion in the fifth flight as Sierra Sullivan (Austin, Texas/The Khabele School) and Hannah Wille (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway Central) each won both matches on Friday to reach the championship match. Wille prevailed in the battle of teammates by scores of 6-1 and 6-3.

Ashleigh Witte (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) reached the finals of the second flight but fell by scores of 6-1 and 6-1 to Nikki Chriricosta of BGSU. Katya Bure (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) also came up just short in her championship match to Chrissy Coffman of Toledo by scores of 6-3 and 6-3.

Poggensee-Wei and Bellinger also teamed to win a doubles championship in the second flight. The duo won by scores of 8-4, 8-3 and 8-4 during the run. Sullivan and Bure took second in the third flight after falling 8-4 in the championship match.

The Bearcats will next compete at the Indiana Fall Classic in Bloomington, Ind.
