CINCINNATI - Sean Kilpatrick (Yonkers, N.Y./Notre Dame Prep) tied his season high with 23 points and Justin Jackson (Cocoa Beach, Fla./Arlington Country Day) netted his third career double-double as the University of Cincinnati men's basketball team knocked off Middle Tennessee, 69-48, in non-conference action Saturday inside Fifth Third Arena.

Kilpatrick hit four triples, grabbed five rebounds and finished with his 87th career double-figure scoring game. The 23 points matched his season high (Campbell) and was his seventh 20-point game of the year. The senior moved into eighth place on UC's career scoring chart, passing Louis Banks who had 1,644 points from 1988-91.

Jackson finished with 16 points and a career-high matching 12 rebounds. He has reached double figures seven times this year and has three double-figure rebound games.

The Bearcats (9-2) hit 60 percent of their shots in the second half (17-of-28) after going 6-of-23 (.261) in the opening stanza. UC played some strong defense holding Middle Tennessee (8-4) under 27 percent shooting for the game (.267). Cincinnati has held eight of its 11 foes this season under the 40-percent shooting plateau.

MTSU's Kerry Hammonds drained a three to knot things up at 21 apiece with 25 seconds left in a nip-and-tuck first half that saw both teams stay within six points of each other.

Kilpatrick opened up the second half with a three pointer at the 18:23 mark to start a 34-13 UC run over almost 10 minutes that pushed the advantage to 24, the Bearcats' largest of the game, 34-13 with 8:18 left.

Kerry Hammonds led the Blue Raiders with 17 points, including five threes. Tweety Knight grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds.

UC returns to the court on Monday, Dec. 23, taking on Chicago State at 7 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena.
