CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati junior guard Sean Kilpatrick was named to the BIG EAST Conference weekly honor roll on Monday after posting game-high scoring marks in a pair of contests last week, helping the Bearcats to a pair of wins.
The honor marks the sixth time this season the conference has recognized Kilpatrick's play on the court. He has been named player of the week twice and has earned weekly honor roll distinction four times.
The Yonkers, N.Y., native scored a game-high 21 points with five three-pointers and a game-high seven rebounds in UC's 65-59 road win at Seton Hall on Saturday. He also scored a game-high 19 points with a trio of three-pointers to go with six rebounds and four assists in a 62-54 home win against Rutgers on Wednesday.
Kilpatrick averaged 20.0 points and 6.5 rebounds for the week while shooting 40.6 percent from the field (13 of 32) and 34.8 percent from three-point range (8 of 23).
Kilpatrick has score 20 or more points in eight games this season, including three times in UC's last five games. He has led the Bearcats in scoring in each of the past four games while making five or more three-pointers in three of the last four games.
A BIG EAST Conference Player of the Year candidate, Sean Kilpatrick ranks as the league's third-leading scorer at 18.5 points per game (through Feb. 5). In conference play, he ranks second in the league in scoring, averaging 18.1 points, behind only Bryce Cotton of Providence (21.0 points through Feb. 2).
The Naismith and John R. Wooden Award watch list nominee is averaging 23.0 points over the past five games while shooting 43.6 percent from the field (34 of 78) and 39.3 percent from three-point range (22 of 56). He is also averaging 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals during the stretch.
He was named a first team All-BIG EAST selection by the league's coaches in the preseason.
