  • The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams host Wright State for their final home meet of the 2013-14 season on Saturday, Jan. 25. Diving will begin at 11:00 a.m., with swimming scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Keating Aquatics Center. Admission is free and the meet can be seen on BearcatsTV.
  • Between the diving and swimming sessions, head coach Monty Hopkins and his program will honor the eight senior members on the squads. The seniors on the men's side are Joe Scherpenberg (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle), Adam Monk (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) and Rob Walsh (Fort Wright, Ky./Covington Catholic). The senior women include: Kirsten Rissover (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills), Katie Nemann (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin), Weronika Wasiakowska (Przykop, Poland/School of Sports Championship), Sammie Wheeler (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) and Amanda Hardewig (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin).
  • The breakout star of the season for UC has been freshman freestyler Jackie Keire (Ontario, Canada). The rookie is a four-time American Athletic Conference swimmer of the week owns the league's top times of the year in the 100 freestyle (48.52), 200 freestyle (1:45.38) and 500 freestyle (4:41.33). She has met the NCAA B-Qualifying standard in all three of those events. Keire also owns the conference's second-quickest 1,000 freestyle time of the year at 10:09.22.
  • Wright State comes to Cincinnati following losses on both the men's and women's side at Cleveland State on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Raider men lost, 181-107, despite individual victories from Matt Dassow (200 free, 500 free) and Kile Aukerman (200 IM). The women's side fell, 193-102, with individual wins from Kayla Fearrin (100 breast) and Kortney Mullen (200 back, 200 breast). Both Wright State and Cincinnati competed at the Miami Invitational earlier this season, with the fifth-place UC women finishing ahead of the seventh-place women from WSU, while the third-place Raider men beat out the fifth-place Bearcat men.
  • Cincinnati has one more dual meet on the regular season schedule. They will travel to Kentucky, on Saturday, Feb. 1. The American Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships will be held Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 19-22, at the University of Louisville's Ralph Wright Natatorium.
