LOUISVILLE, Ky. -For the second consecutive day, Jackie Keire won an individual title at the American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, this time taking home a gold medal in the 200 freestyle.

Just like yesterday's 500 freestyle, Keire swam the fastest time in the morning prelim for the 200, touching at 1:46.57. The freshman went even faster in the evening finals, completing the 200 in 1:44.73. The time not only gives Keire another pool record at Louisville's Ralph Wright Natatorium, but the mark also would have been good enough to earn an invitation to the NCAA Championships last season.

Keire wasn't the only UC representative in the 200 free, as Weronika Wasiakowska used a preliminary time of 1:48.69 to join her in the evening race. Wasiakowska placed seventh in the championship heat, touching in 1:49.18.

The Bearcats men opened the day with three swimmers in the finals of the 400 individual medley. Cody Green led the charge in that event, using 3:58.85 prelim time to earn a spot in the finals, where he posted a mark of 3:56.91. Joe Bott and Joey Ferreri also earned spots in the final with prelim times of 4:01.93 and 4:01.47, respectively. Bott then went faster in the final at 3:59.87, topping Ferreri's 4:08.07.

Joe Scherpenberg, continuing a strong final conference meet, used a preliminary swim of 1:39.44 to reach the finals of the 200 freestyle. He placed sixth, touching the wall in 1:39.91.

Sammie Wheeler reached a second championship final in the 100 breaststroke. Her morning swim of 1:02.42 gave her the chance to post an evening time of 1:02.94 that was good for sixth place.

Scherpenberg swam his second championship heat of the day in the 100 backstroke. A 49.52 preliminary time was followed by a 50.57 finals time, good for eighth place.

The evening was capped with the 400 medley relay. The women's team of Kendra Bierman, Wheeler, Iuliia Fedoreeva and Keire placed fourth in 3:43.13. The men swam Awse Ma'aya, Trenton Harper, Hunter Pasek and Joe Scherpenberg to a third place time of 3:21.37.

Diving action saw the men compete on the three-beter. Jimmy McMahon posted the top Bearcats score at 227.80.

With one day of competition remaining, the women are in fifth place with a score of 271, while the men stand in fourth with a score of 345.
