CINCINNATI - Junior midfielder Megan Bell has been named the BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week after her 10-point performance in a pair of games this past weekend.
"We're very excited for Meg Bell," said head coach Gina Oliver. "She is a baller and we look to her to get us going. She was very confident going into the games this weekend, which made the rest of our team confident."
Bell (Parkton, Md/Hereford) netted six goals, while adding a pair of assists, in UC's 17-5 win over Stetson on Feb. 21. Her eight points tied the Cincinnati single-game record and matched the most scored in a game by any BIG EAST player this season. Bell also shattered the school record with 13 draw controls against the Hatters. She followed that up with a pair of goals at No. 7/5 Florida on Feb. 23.
The award marks the second weekly BIG EAST award in Bell's career. On April 1, 2013, she collected the league's Defensive Player of the Week award after winning six draws, picking-up three ground balls and causing three turnovers in a 16-6 victory over Detroit.
Bell and the Bearcats remain on the road this weekend when they travel to Niagara on Saturday, March. 1. Opening draw is Lewistown, N.Y., is set for 3:00 p.m.
