CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati volleyball program and head coach Molly Alvey have announced the addition of assistant coach Kayla Jeter to the volleyball staff.
A native of Solon, Ohio, Jeter brings many years of high-level volleyball experience and IQ to the University of Cincinnati.
"I truly believe there could not be a better fit for Bearcats Volleyball then Kayla Jeter" said Alvey. "Kayla comes to us with an impressive resume and accolades at the highest level of play. Her educational background and accomplishments combined with her outstanding work ethic are no doubt ideal as a role model for our players. A native to Ohio, she will bring an immediate impact to our recruiting efforts and help us continue to land future Bearcats. In addition to all she brings to our program and staff, Kayla is genuinely a kind and wonderful person. I am excited to have her as a part of our team."
Prior to being named as assistant coach at UC, Jeter spent the past year as a professional volleyball player in Finland playing for the LP Kangasala Volleyball Club in the LML Lentopallon Mestaruusliga league. There she played with four national team trainees, winning the 2012 Suomen Cup Championship and earning a 2012 league runner-up title. She also was named the regular-season team MVP three times and the playoff-season team MVP four times.
Jeter spent five years as a member of the University of Tennessee volleyball team from 2008 until 2012. During her time at UT, she was named AVCA All-America honorable mention, AVCA All-South Region and All-SEC first team while also being recognized as part of the SEC academic honor roll and the SEC community service team. Jeter was also selected as the AVCA National Player of the Week in 2010, recognizing her play as the best in the country.
She was part of a Tennessee program that advanced to the NCAA tournament in each of her five years as a member of the team and finished no worse than third in the competitive Southeastern Conference (SEC). Jeter helped UT earn a national ranking as high as No. 14 during her time on the court.
Jeter graduated from UT with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Masters of Kinesiology.
