TicketsNEW YORK - For the fifth time in seven years the University of Cincinnati lacrosse program has won the BIG EAST Team Excellence Award. The honor goes to the team in each league sport which posts the highest grade-point average for the academic year.
"I'm extremely proud of our team for its continued efforts in the classroom," said head coach Gina Oliver. "We have a very dedicated group of young ladies along with a very dedicated academic support staff which always makes sure academics are a priority.
The UC lacrosse program completed its eighth varsity season in 2014 and its seventh as a member of the BIG EAST Conference. In five of those seven years, the Bearcats have posted the top GPA among any women's lacrosse team in the league. Last week, 17 of 20 eligible team members were named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team for recording a 3.0 GPA or better during the 2013-14 year.
Cincinnati, which only competes in the BIG EAST in women's lacrosse while the remainder of sports are in the American Athletic Conference, was the only associate member of the BIG EAST to win a Team Excellence Award in 2014.
