CINCINNATI - Four members of the 2014 University of Cincinnati lacrosse team have been named to the Academic Honor Roll by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Seniors Jennifer Walsh (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville), Megan Knoop (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Taylor Young (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) were joined on the list by junior Michelle Platz (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Urusula). Student-athletes who had reached junior status academically and recorded a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 were eligible for the honor roll. The quartet were members of a group of 238 student-athletes recognized at the 80 NCAA Division I women's lacrosse institutions.

The individual honors cap a stellar 2013-14 year in the classroom for head coach Gina Oliver's program. The Bearcats were honored with the BIG EAST Team Excellence Award for posting the highest GPA of any women's lacrosse team in the league. It marked the fifth time in seven years as a member of the conference UC collected the Team Excellence Award. Cincinnati also was named an Academic Honor Squad by the IWLCA for posting a team GPA of 3.0 during the academic year.

In addition, the program saw 18-of-20 eligible student-athletes earn a spot on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team for posting at least a 3.0 GPA during the year, while Platz was not eligible for that honor because she had yet to complete a full year at UC.
