Tournament Results Freshman Davis Baxter (Nolensville, Tenn./Ravenwood High School) sits tied for 13th place at 1-over par 73-72=145 while the University of Cincinnati men's golf team finds itself in ninth place following Monday's first- and second-round action at the Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tennessee. During his two rounds on Monday on the South Course (par 72; 7,334 yards), Baxter posted scores at par or better on 28 of 36 holes, including two eagles and three birdies. He is in a five-way tie for 13th place, five strokes behind tournament leaders Ben Wood (71-69=140) and Fletcher Johnson (70-70=140) of Mississippi State and Victor Lange (68-72=140) of Louisiana Tech. Johnson is playing as an individual for Mississippi State. A total of 75 players are competing in the 54-hole, two-day tournament that concludes Tuesday. "Davis has played well for us to this point," UC head coach Doug Martin said. "We need him to continue to perform in Tuesday's final round." // Other UC Player Results UC senior John Michael O'Toole (Pinson, Ala./Pinson Valley High School/Central Alabama CC) leads all other Bearcat players at the event. He is tied for 44th place at 4-over 74-76=150. Fellow senior Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome High School) is three strokes behind O'Toole, tied for 47th place at 7-over 73-79=152. Sophomore Jared O'Kelley (Canton, Ga./Creekview High School) is tied for 51st place at 8-over 73-79=152. Senior Baxter Reeves is tied for 58th position at 10-over 79-75=154. Playing unattached from the team, UC freshman Scot Sapp (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington High School) is tied for 47th place at 7-over 75-76=151 in his first collegiate tournament. "We're off to a slow start," Martin said. "The effort is there. We're just not converting opportunities on the green. We're having some unforced errors and not putting well. But we'll continue to work at improving." // Team Standings Tournament host Memphis leads the 13-team field at 1-under 289-286=575. Louisiana Tech is one stroke back at even par 283-293=576. Mississippi State is third at 1-over 292-285=577. UC is ninth at 18-over 296-298=594.
