Final Tournament Results

Freshman Davis Baxter (Nolensville, Tenn./Ravenwood High School) registered his second top-10 finish in as many collegiate tournaments Tuesday when he carded a 2-over par 73-72-73=218 to tie for ninth place at the Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tennessee. Baxter, who tied for third at the Marshall Invitational last week, posted a 1-over 73 during final-round action Tuesday tying four other players for ninth in the 75-player tournament. He finished seven strokes behind Mississippi State's Ben Wood (5-under 71-69-71=211), who claimed tournament medalist honors. In six rounds of collegiate golf this fall season, Baxter has posted consistent results with three rounds at or below par and three rounds at 1-over par. "I'm very pleased with Davis Baxter's play," UC head coach Doug Martin said. "He has been very solid in every round of this tournament and has enjoy a good start to our fall season." // Team Standings As a team, the Bearcats ended the tournament in 10th place at 31-over 296-298-301=895. Louisiana Tech finished at 7-over 283-293-295=871 to edge out host Memphis (9-over 289-286-298=873) by two strokes for the team title in the 13-squad field. // Other UC Player Results UC senior John Michael O'Toole (Pinson, Ala./Pinson Valley High School/Central Alabama CC) was one of only 14 players in the tournament to post a final-round score at or below par. O'Toole's even-par 72 on Tuesday helped him finish tied for 24th at 6-over 74-76-72=222. It marked O'Toole's sixth top-25 finish since joining the program prior to the 2013-14 campaign. Fellow senior Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome High School) tied for 51st at 12-over 76-75-77=228. Senior Baxter Reeves (Montgomery, Ala./Brewbaker Tech/Central Alabama CC) ended at 17-over 79-75-79=233 to tie for 63rd position. Sophomore Jared O'Kelley (Canton, Ga./Creekview High School) finished 72nd at 73-79-88=240.

UC freshman Scot Sapp (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington High School) played unattached from the team, tying for 54th place at 13-over 75-76-78=229 in his first collegiate event. "As a team, we need to relax and play golf the way we know how to play," Martin said. "We must continue to work on cleaning up our mistakes.
