Men Win Friendship Invitational, Women Take Third

The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country programs had a successful morning at the Friendship Invitational in Cedarville, Ohio as the men took home the team crown and the women finished third.

The men's squad had eight runners finish in the top 10. Senior Kevin Fink, who was an American All-Conference performer last season, led the team with a second-place finish in the time of 25:44.09. Ian Silver and Anthony Car rounded out the top five with a group of Bearcats coming in sixth through 10th.

UC totaled a score of 24 with the host Cedarville coming in second with 41. Dayton rounded out the top three with 93.

Freshman Meg Westerheide led the women's team to a third-place finish with a 10th-place individual finish in a time of 19:28.30. Senior Ashley Earman, who was the team's top runner last year, crossed the line 13th, clocking in at 19:37.25.

The Bearcats had five runners finish in the top 25 to accumulate a score of 80. Cedarville won the meet with 34, and Cleveland State was the runner up with 51.

Cincinnati takes a week off before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Greater Louisville Invitational, which is run at the same course as the Southeast Regional course, in Louisville, Kentucky.
