Men's Soccer Drops 3-1 Decision at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team saw a decision for the first time this season, but came out on the short end of a 3-1 contest at Nebraska Omaha. The loss drops the Bearcats to 0-1-2 with a match at No. 8 Creighton set for Sunday afternoon in Omaha.

// Carter Strikes
Terence Carter (London, England/London Nautical/Northeastern), a Colonial Athletic Conference All-Rookie selection at Northeastern, struck for his first goal as a Bearcat. Carter converted on a cross from Alan Rovira (Simi Valley, Calif./Simi Valley). Carter becomes the third different goal scorer for UC this season. Ashani Walker (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College) scored in the first match at Northern Kentucky and John Manga (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) netted the goal against Wright State on Monday in the home opener.

// Road Warriors
The Bearcats are in the midst of a season-opening stretch which sees them play five of the first six matches on the road. Following last weekend's season opener at Northern Kentucky, UC hosted Wright State in its only home game of the first three weeks. In addition to tonight's game at UNO, the Bearcats will also play at No. 8 Creighton while in Omaha before playing next weekend at crosstown rival Xavier and the following week at IPFW. Cincinnati finally returns home on Sunday, Sept. 21, when they host Eastern Illinois at 3:00 p.m.

UNO 1, Cincinnati 0 - Felipe da Silva (17')
Felipe da Silva put the Mavericks in front when he headed home a pass from Mark Moulton and Logan Mendez.

UNO 2, Cincinnati 0 - Mark Moulton (18')
Moulton and Mendez combined again, this time to put Omaha up, 2-0. Mendez crossed it into Moulton from the left before Moulton beat Gill just 1:36 after the first goal.

UNO 2, Cincinnati 1 - Terence Carter (27')
The Bearcats cut into the lead in the 27th minute when Carter headed home a corner from Alan Rovira.

UNO 3, Cincinnati 1 - Nick Miller (82')
Cincinnati played well and kept the deficit at one goal until the Mavericks were able to put the game away in the 82nd minute. Mouton again got it started, sending in a cross off a set piece to set up Miller for the clincher.
