CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team wrapped up the first day of the UC Invitational held at the Western Tennis & Fitness Center Friday, competing in singles and doubles action against Bowling Green, Ball State and Xavier.

Friday featured doubles action against Bowling Green and Xavier while facing off with Ball State in singles action. The first day was moved indoors to the Western Tennis & Fitness Center but Saturday is scheduled to be played on the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center on UC's campus.
// SINGLES
The Bearcats won three out of six singles matches today with Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North), Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) and Ali Miller (Portsmouth, Ohio/Portsmouth) all picking up wins over their Ball State counterparts. Poggensee-Wei and Miller both won in straight sets while Bellinger battled in an extended third-set tiebreak, eventually winning 15-13. The sophomore trailed 13-12 in the tiebreak before recording the final three points to put away Rosalinda Calderon.

UC won two of three doubles matches against Bowling Green State and earned one win against Xavier. Natalia Abdalla (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Augusto Laranja) and Hannah Wille (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway Central) picked up a win against BGSU and lost to Xavier at the No. 3 spot. Poggensee-Wei and Bellinger had similar results at No. 2 while Katya Bure (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) and Miller earned a win against Xavier, but lost to BGSU.
