CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell 3-0 (18-25, 27-29, 15-25) to league-leading UCF on Sunday afternoon in Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats were led by junior Emma Roberson's (Brooks, Ky./Evansville) 11 kills.
// Notables
- With the loss, Cincinnati is now to 13-7 on the season and 5-3 in the American while UCF improves to 15-5 and 8-0.
- The Bearcats were unable to stop the potent UCF offense which produced 50 kills and a .423 hitting percentage.
- Roberson's 11 kills keep her streak of double-digit kills alive. She has now recorded at least 10 kills in 13 of the last 14 matches.
- The Bearcats and the Knights will meet again in Orlando, Florida, for a match on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
// Set Breakdown
Set 1: UCF 25, UC 18
- Two quick points on a UC service error and a UCF service ace gave the Knights a 10-7 lead and forced the Bearcats into a timeout.
- UC responded with three straight points for a 13-12 lead. Two of the points came from UCF errors and the other was a block by senior Me'Ashah Nicholson (Shiloh, Ill./Belleville Althoff) and senior Madi Lang (Commerce Township, Mich./Florida Atlantic).
- With the score tied at 16-16 the Knights employed a five-point scoring run to go ahead 21-16. Four different Knights recorded a kill during the run.
- A block by UCF's DeLaina Sarden and Kia Bright gave the Knights the 25-18 victory.
Set 2: UCF 29, UC 27
- The Knights opened a five-point lead after scoring six of the first seven points in the game.
- Four-straight UCF points, including three kills, gave the Knights a 17-9 lead.
- Staring at a 24-20 deficit, the Bearcats mounted a furious comeback behind a strong serving game from sophomore Lindsey Dinkelacker (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Louis) to score four straight points and tie the game at 24-all. Kills by sophomore Ciara Hill (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook), Nicholson and Lang propelled the Bearcats, as well as a service ace from Dinkelacker. The Knights used both of their timeouts in the scoring run.
- The teams traded points through 27-27 when a kill by Bright and a Bright/Sarden block gave the Knights the 29-27 victory and a 2-0 match lead heading into the intermission.
- Hill tallied six kills in the game while junior Morgan Allred (Carrolton, Texas/Hebron) added five.
Set 3: UC 25, UCF
- The Knights grabbed control of the set quickly, going ahead 12-7 with three straight points, including two UC errors.
- A four-point UCF run with three Bearcats attacking errors increased the Knights' lead to 19-11.
- UCF won the set at 25-15.

Cincinnati will host a mid-week match against its travel partner Memphis on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m., in Fifth Third Arena. Memphis is currently second in the American Athletic Conference with a 5-2 league record.
