The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team fell to the American Athletic Conference regular season champion and No. 23-ranked UCF on the road Sunday afternoon, 2-0, to close out the 2014 regular season slate.
Sunday's match was a clash of the league's top offenses, but the Bearcats' (10-7-2, 4-5-0 American) struggled getting pressure on the nationally-ranked foe. UCF (15-3-0, 8-1-0 American) fired off the first seven shots of the match before senior Emily Elsbrock tallied one for UC.
Cincinnati's defense held strong in the first half, but in the 31st minute the Knights scored on a free kick as Tatiana Coleman headed in the go-ahead goal. UCF carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Bearcats' performance in the second half was much different as they became the aggressor from the start. UC tallied a trio of shots in the first 15 minutes of the half with two of them being on frame.
But the back-to-back conference champion was able to extend its lead in the 76th minute as Coleman again found the back of the net.
