Former University of Cincinnati men's basketball assistant coach Dan Peters passed away Monday at the age of 60. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2013. Peters served under head coach Bob Huggins as assistant coach during the 2000 and 2001 seasons and as an associate head coach during the 2002 through 2004 campaigns. He was briefly named interim head coach during the offseason following the 2003-2004 season. "Our condolences and prayers go out to the Peters family," UC head coach Mick Cronin said. "Dan was a great family man. He will be missed by the coaching fraternity." Peters had been the director of basketball of operations at Akron since 2009. Following his stay at UC, Peters served as the associate director of operations and assistant coach at Ohio State (2004-09). He also held head coaching positions at Youngstown State (1993-99), Saint Joseph's College [Ind.] (1991-93), and Walsh College (1983-88) during his 30-plus years in the profession.
