The University of Cincinnati track & field programs volunteered this past weekend both the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank and the Habitat for Humanity.

"We had a blast volunteering at the Freestore Foodbank and Habitat for humanity this past weekend," said Director of Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Susan Seaton. "Our team members became more aware of the needs in the Cincinnati community and were eager to help make a difference."

While at the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank, the Bearcats pieced together Power Packs for kids in grade school. Power Packs are sent home with students every Friday of the school year to ensure they have something to eat on the weekend. Each Power Pack contains nearly a dozen food items that are shelf-stable and easy to prepare. Nearly 4,000 children in more than 90 participating schools receive Power Packs each week.

UC student-athletes also aided at Habitat for Humanity by tearing apart a house in Newport, Kentucky, so it can be rebuilt for a single family.

The Bearcats had over team members participate between the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank and Habitat for Humanity.
